FLORIDA - Florida motorists are experiencing a modest rise in gasoline prices for the second consecutive week, with the average cost per gallon reaching $3.01 as of June 2nd.

This marks an increase from $2.97 the previous week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) .

Despite the uptick, Florida's average gas price remains approximately 3.7% lower than the national average, which stood at $3.13 per gallon during the same period.

Over the past year, the state's gas prices have fluctuated, with a low of $2.85 per gallon recorded on May 12th, and a high of $3.45 on July 8th, 2024.

Compared to the same time last year, Florida's current average is 12% lower, as the average price per gallon was $3.43 in early June 2024.

This decline aligns with national trends, where gas prices have generally decreased over the past year.

The EIA attributes these price fluctuations to various factors, including seasonal demand shifts, refinery maintenance schedules, and changes in crude oil prices.

As the summer travel season progresses, analysts suggest that increased demand could influence further changes in fuel costs.

In Miami, the average price for regular gasoline is slightly higher than the state average, at $3.011 per gallon as of June 2nd.

This represents a 4-cent increase from the previous week and a 2-cent rise from the prior month.

Nationally, the EIA forecasts that gasoline prices will average $3.14 per gallon during the second and third quarters of 2025, reflecting a 9% decrease from the same period last year.

This projection suggests that, barring unforeseen disruptions, consumers may continue to benefit from relatively stable fuel prices in the near term .
