The New York Knicks and All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson have agreed on a four-year, $156.5 million extension, his agent, Sam Rose of Creative Artists Agency, confirmed to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Friday (July 12).

"In a largely unprecedented financial concession to give roster flexibility to a contender, New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson has agreed on a four-year, $156.5 million extension, his agent Sam Rose of CAA tells ESPN --- $113M less guaranteed than he’s eligible to receive in one year," Wojnarowski wrote on his X account.

Brunson, 27, has emerged as the Knicks' franchise player since signing with the team in 2022. New York finished second in the Eastern Conference last season and fifth during the 2022-2023 season, having previously only made one playoff appearance in nine seasons. The two-time national champion became eligible to negotiate and sign the maximum extension on Friday in adherence with NBA league rules.

Brunson averaged a career-best 28.7 points and 6.7 assists last season, finishing fifth in the NBA MVP voting and being selected to the All-NBA second-team. The former Villanova standout's emergence as the team's franchise player has resulted in the Knicks acquiring several of his former college teammates, which included trading for swingman Josh Hart, signing shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo and trading for Mikal Bridges last month.
