Pete Davidson Apologizes to Congressman-Elect Dan Crenshaw on SNL

Last week, Pete Davidson did what he does best and made a controversial joke on Saturday Night Live. This time at the expense of Congressman-Elect Dan Crenshaw. During "Weekend Update" the cast member did a bit called "First Impressions," where he mocked the appearance of several midterm election candidates.

"You may be surprised to hear he’s a congressional candidate in Texas and not a hitman in a porno movie," Davidson joked as a picture of Crenshaw appeared onscreen. "I’m sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever. Whatever.”

The Republican politician and former Navy SEAL did in fact lose his eye in war, from an IED blast while serving in Afghanistan in 2012.

Thankfully, it looks like Crenshaw has a good sense of humor, because he joined Davidson on Saturday night's (November 10) "Weekend Update" segment to accept the comedian's apology.

"Apology accepted" the Congressman told Davidson, before his phone started buzzing with Ariana Grande's "Breathin" as the ringtone. "Oh, do you know her?" he asked.

Davidson then said it was only fair for Crenshaw to mock a photo of him, since that's what he did the previous week. After feigning hesitation, the politician jumped right in. "This is Pete Davidson. He looks like if the meth from Breaking Bad was a person," he quipped. After the 24-year-old declared they were even, the Texan wanted to a take a few more jabs, comparing Davidson to a troll doll with a tapeworm and Martin Short in The Santa Claus 3 before twisting the knife. "By the way, one of these people was actually good on SNL," he said.

During last week's segment, Davidson also addressed his breakup with Grande.

"The last thing I’ll say, I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it’s nobody’s business,” he said. “Sometimes things just don’t work out and that’s okay. [Ariana's] a wonderful, strong person and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world.”
