Shoe Station Hosts Hurricane Michael Relief Fundraiser for United Way on Oct. 21

To support those effected by Hurricane Michael, Shoe Station is hosting a United Way Day Fundraiser October 21, 2018 in its twenty-one locations across the Southeast. On that day, the retail chain is donating one dollar for every pair of shoes, sandals, and boots sold to United Way.

The retailer will present a check to its longtime community partner, United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA), which will then distribute the funds to Southeastern communities in need.

UWSWA has already coordinated with its partner agencies to mobilize a hurricane relief effort. "We welcome Shoe Station's contribution," stated United Way of Southwest Alabama Marketing Specialist Leslie Schraeder. "Families in communities from Panama City to Mexico Beach, FL and beyond will benefit."

The format of the fundraiser ensures that Shoe Station's donation will increase with each pair sold, and there is no cap on the donation. Customers will also be given the opportunity to make an additional donation to United Way of Southwest Alabama.

"We are pleased to sponsor this large fundraising effort for United Way to assist those effected by Hurricane Michael," said Shoe Station President and CEO Brent Barkin.

United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) serves Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington Counties. The vision of UWSWA is to strengthen communities by mobilizing resources in support of the building blocks of a better life: Education, Financial Stability, Health, and Essentials. UWSWA has raised and invested more than $240 million for communities.

Shoe Station is one of the nation’s largest independent shoe retailers. The family-owned chain was founded in 1984 in Mobile, Alabama and has a national presence with www.shoestaton.com. It has contributed to United Way of Southwest Alabama for the past decade.
